HOME_DECORATION: Whitewash wood & co

Wood is just so perfect, it's alive,it's warm even when it's white coloured or in grey shades it has the most beautiful structures and colours. 1/6- 8) some great pictures you can find on my Pinterest board , aswell as the pictures below this moodboard, the entire white loft is absolutely amazing, so is the attic. 7) a little bird house bought at the garden centre in Holland which stands proudly on my terras. Wood is one of my favourite materials in the house even though there is not enough of it in my current home I'm desperately would love to have it pretty much everywhere in my future home. It all started with my salon table it's one of those Thai ethnic style opium tables that one day I decided to turn into a whitewash . So I just started to sanding it with sand paper and bought some whitewash paint from the DIY store. I loved the result of it so i took it on to some picture frames as well...... created by Martine

Bits & Pieces of my Travel Journal: SAN LORENZO AL MARE

As Marzia just shared with you some beautiful places at the Italian coast, I just couldn't resist to take you along a bit further down the coastline to share with you some more places you absolutely need to visit while you're around!   San Lorenzo al mare is our destination for the fall-spring and summer weekends. And as spring is on the way we are now frequently moving to the seaside again. Most of the Italians have a second home within their family either in the mountains or at the seaside which they use to get away from the big city's during the weekend and holiday breaks. As Turin is only 1 hour driving away form the seaside it's great to reach that holiday spirit only a hour away from your hectic daily life.   San Lorenzo is 2 hours driving from Turin and it's a fantastic small town at the Liguria sea side in the north of Italy close to the French border. As it's still a non touristic place it's a real pleasure to go there for the

HOME_DECORATION: new bedroom look

When a few posts ago (  looking for inspiration ) I anticipated that I was on my search for inspiration colours for my new bedroom I still was convinced to go for deep blue colours. But as all my furniture is pretty dark this wasn't an option and it turned out that my first instinct (while creating my first inspiration board) was again the right one to follow. So I turned up with an amazing shade of grey which brightened my bedroom up in such a lightning way, it feels like so much more light showed up now. I added an extra pair of white linen curtains that enlightens the grey curtains I already had, just added an extra holder on top. The side tables have always been there but cleaned them up by keeping them pretty much empty so they show off a lot more I got them from a Dutch flea market a long time ago and they have moved with me to Italy ( they used to be full of small un necessary items). Also the big massif dressoir was always full with these things so I put everythi

Style_Files: A peek in my wardrobe

Today it was misty and cold outside some of those grey days, I intended to go for some shopping but ended up staying at home and as  I was in the mood for taking pictures, I was wondering around in searching anything that appealed to me for a shoot, and because I would like to share some simple must have item for your wardrobe I started to take pictures of my T-shirts. I simply love T-shirts as you can wear them all year round. In spring with a nice cotton knitted cardigan on a pair of white jeans, during the summer on a pair of jeans shorts or a long white romantic long skirt till you ankles, in the fall and winter with a nice heavy black   jersey blazer jacket on a pair of jeans. I manage to collect a lot of them during the years, unfortunately some of them I’ve worn so often that they are completely worn out and it really kills me to through them away, so some of them I keep as they might come in handy for a DIY to be. I always buy more or less the same kind of tee they

Style_Files: Running through the magazines

Besides sharing inspiration about Food & Travel believe that upcoming trends, romantic and trendy fashion must haves is an other topic of our blog that needs some serious attention from us. I always buy the Elle, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire and Glamour I feel that these are the basic must have magazines, then we move on to Elle décor and home & interior and… would buy them all if I could find the time to read them all. And lets not forget when travelling of course we add the UK edition, the USA edition the Dutch edition whatever I can carry on with me during my trip as they are all pretty thick ( love the pocket edition that you can just carry into your handbag but is soooo heavy though!) First thing to do is read the interesting new web sites, I tear them out and keep them in my cute little notebook . Next step is starring at the pages that show me the latest fashion direct from the catwalk, I just love to watch the Chanel houte couture and
